Our Mission: Rehome the Unhoused and Restore Gompers Park

Gompers Park is located on the northwest side of Chicago. For over two years, it has been occupied by a homeless encampment. Concerned neighbors formed the Restore Gompers Park Coalition in July 2024 to lobby city officials to invest in an Accelerated Moving Event (AME) to rapidly rehouse the homeless into suitable housing - with access to wrap around services inclusive of mental health therapists, drug dependency counselors, employment assistance and case workers. Success finally came March 5th, 2025 when an AME began at Gompers Park. All 27 individuals who participated signed up for help and housing. Now the Coalition moves into the second phase of our mission to restore Gompers Park and return it to the nature-filled space it once was so that everyone can enjoy it.

“I believe very strongly in contributing to the area you live in—for the environment and for the people.”
